Now that all of the holy days have concluded, it is now time for us to work on those Rosh Hashanah resolutions. One of mine was to offer more engaging educational experiences for our adults of any background and to do this in-person and online. This email is to inform you of the coming learning opportunities I will be offering over the next few months.
This Fall’s program includes 2 sessions of “The Rebbe’s Tisch.” One will be in October while the other will be in December. These sessions allow all to share what is on their minds. Basically, we delve into questions like, “What is keeping you up at night?” and “What is getting you up in the morning?” The world we live in causes us to wrestle with many issues. The Rebbe’s Tisch (The Rabbi’s Table) is the place to share those thoughts.
Also this Fall, I will be offering another 3 part mini-course. Personally, I have been struck by how people have been treating one another (for better and for worse) and how we have been taking care of each other (for better or for worse). Since the western world believes that our ethics and values are derived from our Judeo-Christian values, perhaps it is time for us to analyze what our texts actually teach us. This 3 part series will address 3 different ethical issues – lying, abortion, and capital punishment. Each session will explore Jewish texts as well as give us all time to reflect on the relevance or lack of relevance of these texts for us today.
For exact dates, please see the attached flyer. Each class will be offered on Wednesdays at 1:00 PM and on Thursdays at 7:30 PM. People can choose which fits best for their schedules. All of the sessions will be offered over Zoom and in-person. We will follow the current temple COVID protocols. If you have any questions, feel free to reply. I look forward to learning with and from all of you.
