Summary
To My Beth Am Family,
One of my favorite parts of my job is to travel on the journey of Bar/Bat Mitzvah with one of our young people. At the beginning, there is so much apprehension and fear. By the end, there is confidence, maturity, and wisdom. Additionally, during the process of us learning, the student and I become closer. We learn a great deal about each other. We nurture a relationship.
I would like that opportunity with you, the adult members of our community. I would like to nurture and grow with you. As mentioned on Rosh Hashanah, I am beginning an Adult Bat/Bar Mitzvah class. This class offers everyone the opportunity to study together in a relaxed, intimate, and cohesive environment. Our studies will, of course, conclude with a celebration of our growth at a special service. Even if you have had a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, you are more than welcome to join us, because, above all else, this class is about reconnecting with that Jewish side of ours.
I will be holding an information meeting on Thursday, October 10th at 7:30 PM. The plan for our class is that it will meet on a regular basis for approximately nine months. Absolutely no prior knowledge of Hebrew or Judaism is required. The only requirements are an interest in learning, a desire to connect with other congregants, and a love of a good celebration at the end of our studies. I guarantee that this process will bring you closer to your Judaism, help you better understand your Jewish journey, and further connect you to people in your Temple community.
I hope that you will join me on the 10th. Even if you are unsure whether you will join, please consider attending so that you can learn a little about the process and the plans for the course.
I look forward to meeting you all and beginning our Adult B'nai Mitzvah journey. Should you have any questions, feel free to call me at the Temple or just reply to this email.
