It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with all of you. Over the past 24 hours, there was a string of vandalism carried out on public buildings and houses of worship in Yorktown. Below is the official statement from the town and the Police.
I have already reached out to our good friends at the First Presbyterian Church and at St. Patrick’s, letting them know that we are with them as well as offering our assistance with whatever they might need. Further, I shared with them that “an attack on them was an attack on all of us.”
I also wanted you to know that both the Chief of Police and the Town Supervisor have directly reached out to us. Not only will there be more frequent patrols but we will continue our strong communications throughout this challenging time.
Feel free to share the press release with others so we all can be vigilant in standing up against the hatred that seems so prevalent at this time.
As I taught this morning, our ancestors instructed ages ago, “In a place where no one is acting righteously, it is incumbent upon us to act righteously.” Let us move forward with righteousness, especially in the face of such hatred.
Shabbat Shalom,
Rabbi Robbie
